HOLY REDEEMER’S BASILICA is located near Palkarai,Trichy. On February 9th 1880, MSGR Canoz laid the foundation for the church with full of artistic paintings. The special features is that it was built in 16 months. The wonderful picture of Mother of Perpetual Succour is an exquisite portrait drawn according to the norms of Eastern art. Tradition says that this picture was drawn by the evangelist St.Luke. The Picture has the abbreviation of “M.R.” means Mother, “TH.u” the short form of the word “Theou” means “God’s”, put together forms “Mother of God” to say “God’s mother is a mother of each and every one of us”.
