Arulmigu Sri Subramanya Swami temple is one of the holiest places of Lord Muruga and is situated 9 k.m. away, west of Tiruchirappalli city. The temple is surrounded by lush green fields called vayal in Tamil and hence the name Vayalur means, the temple is on the plains surrounded by fields.Here Lord Subramaniya Swamy shrine will be in a standing posture facing east with four hands flanking Sri Valli and Sri Teyvanai on either side with the peacock behind him.The special feature here is daily poojas will be commenced only after Lord Muruga worshipped his parents to illustrate that parents are the first God.
