Pachamalai is a green hill range, just 80 kms north of Tiruchirapalli via Thuraiyur. Pachai means Green and malai means mountain. Pachamalai which spread with a few range is a haven of the tribal of this region ,with unique culture and way of life.
It’s altitude is 500 m to 1000 meters above msl. This mountain range in itself has different small regions like Thenparanadu, kombainadu , Athi Nadu and Vannadu. It’s good hill range for trekking to enjoy nature and the animal life small streams and falls add colour to these hills .

Travel from Trichy Chatram Bus Stand to Thuraiyur. Travel time approx. 1 hour
Connecting Buses are available to Pachamalai from Thuraiyur main bus stand. Travel time approx. 35 mins
Good things:
If you luv nature and deep silence then Pachamalai is right place! Green green everywhere.. No fear while travelling along hill road. Narrow road and about 7 to 9 hairpin bends. Clouds pass away and its our blessings to be inside the cloud..breezy air.. a nature shower ‘water falls’ and top view point make the place more enjoyable.. There is forest bangalow for stay but want to book in advance. Food also provided by the cook in bangalow.
Bad things:
Not furnished tourist spot. There is a park but only the board say it is park, no other sign for park. Poor toilet facilities. Even public park and falls doesnt have any toilet facilities. No hotels and canteen for food availibility.
Totally pachamalai is good place if you adjust any situation. Its better to make arrangements for food and booking the forest bangalow for happy trip in pachamalai.
Can any one, please share forest bangalow contact numbers / mail id’s etc for bookings at Pachamalai..
Due to the fire issue, they have stopped providing bookings till June.
