Details:

Thiruvellarai temple is housed on a 14 acre property. The Pundarikatshan Perumal Temple or Thiruvellarai in Thiruvellarai, a village in the outskirts of Trichy is a Vaishnavite temple dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. Constructed in the Dravidian style architecture, the temple is glorified in the Divya Prabandha, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Azhwar saints from the 6th–9th centuries AD. It is one of the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to Vishnu. The swastika-shaped temple tank(must visit) built during 800 AD is present in the south-western corner of the street around the temple. It has four stepped gateways, each having 51 steps. Legend has it that this is a temple which gives the best to its devotees. There is another cave temple carved out of a rock known as Swedhagiri where Lord Siva, known as `Vada Jambunathar’ and Pundarikatshan are enshrined. This architectural beauty is a gateway to peace and tranquility.
